Kristiansund

“The city at sea” and the “capital of Nordmøre”. The city is well known as an old maritime town with its maritime environment where the “Sund” boats traffic the harbour between the different parts of the city constructed on 4 islands. Kristiansund is the city of “Klipfish”, and klipfish is also a well known product for export. Today Kristiansund is the city of oil with the drilling and production north of the 62nd. Lateral (north of 62o North) From Møst the distance to the city is 22 km. by car,  and about 5 km. by boat.

The Atlantic bath

“Atlanterhavsbadet” is an outdoor waterpark in Kristiansund. There are a great variety of swimming pools and saunas with different temperature. What to do for the entire family.

The Atlantic road

Where “land meets sea”. This unique road brings you to where land ends and the ocean starts. The Atlantic road is one of Norway’s most visited   tourist’ attractions and was in year 2005 elected as “The national tourist road”. From Møst to The Atlantic Road the distance is approximately 50 km.

Grip

14 km. to the west of Kristiansund. This small island-community contains more than 80 small isles and inlets scattered into the wild ocean. Grip is an ancient “fishing centre” and a nice place for vacation for someone seeking tranquility.

Beaches

You can take a swim in the sea outside the sea houses. There is also a small beach nearby well suited for families with small children.

Mountain hikes

“Lågfjellet” and “Freikollen” are popular for mountain hikes. There are several good tracks to the summit.

Diving

Diving in Hustadvika. Hustadvika is an eldorado for diving with its many shipwrecks and its rich flora and fauna.  “Strømsholmen” Seasport centre is situated right on the Atlantic road and offers a variety of diving equipment. They also organize boat trips and special diving courses. Refilling of oxygene. Tel:  71 29 81 74. Distance from Møst: approximately 45 minutes by car. It is also possible to go by boat.

The Bremnes-grotto

This is the largest grotto at Nordmøre extending about 80 m. into the mountain. There have been a lot of interesting findings here which indicate that here have been people living as far back as 10 000 years.

The “Håholmen”

A trip to the inlet of “Håholmen” will be a memory for life. The ancient fishing village is lying there as the last barrier to the ocean. On the inlet of 50 acres you will find about 30 buildings, some of them dating back the 18th and 19th Century. In summertime you can go to Håholmen by a “vikingship” every hour. The trip will take 10 minutes.

The “Trollchurch” caves

The "Trollchurch" is situated between Eide and Elnesvågen. This is a limestone cave with a fabulous waterfall. Bring torches with you.

Shopping malls

Would you need to get a new supply of fishing hooks, or you have a need for supplying your stock of groceries, or just need some nice pass-time, the shopping-mall AMFI Futura might be the right place to go. The  shopping mall is situated right on the main entrance road to Kristiansund, some 5 km. from the city centre. Bunnpris is a nice grocery shop, and if you don’t like to prepare lunch yourself some day, the cafeteria in AMFI Futura might be a good alternative to a moderate price.
